Prosthodontics at the university of sydney
The Doctor of Clinical Dentistry (Prosthodontics) at the University of Sydney commenced in 1978. The strength of this course lies in its history as well as the dedicated, experienced staff, in particular the part-time academics who support teaching in this course. The course will be based at the Westmead Centre for Oral Health, and at the Sydney Dental Hospital. It aims to provide qualified dentist with in-depth knowledge and clinical skills in advanced restorative dentistry and contemporary prosthodontics including orofacial pain as well as maxillofacial prosthodontics. The course is offered as a three year full-time coursework program with the academic and clinical component representing 60 to 70% on the research component 30 to 40%. It starts with preclinical sessions and developing over 3 years into advanced oral and multidisciplinary maxillofacial rehabilitation with an intensive integrated developing interdisciplinary didactic programme. Since its inception, the program has graduated 76 specialist Prosthodontists.
